TRYOUTS

We are just about ready to begin the 2023-2024 season! Tryouts will take place in October with regular practices starting the week after.

Things to know for tryouts:

What to Bring:  A 28.5" basketball, clean gym shoes and a water bottle.

Registration: If you plan to have your daughter try out, please email Dave Nielsen with your daughter’s name and grade. There is no cost to try out. As a reminder, the Cary Grove Girls Feeder Program is only open to girls that live within the CG High School District. It’s not a problem if you already registered through the CBA website.

Roster Size: Roster sizes will vary by grade. Most leagues will limit us to 10 on a game roster. Teams will often carry more than 10 on a team (particularly at the lower grade levels) due to conflicts that arise during the year. We also have a "practice player" option for girls that want to continue with the feeder program but don't yet have as much experience. If we have lots of kids at a particular grade, we can look to add a second team provided we have gym space and coaches available. We will look at each grade level on an individual basis after tryouts are complete. Our goal as a feeder program is to get as many girls playing as possible and to develop their skills to become a better player and ultimately prepare them for the high school program.

Multisport Kids: I have had several questions about multisport kids. The vast majority of our kids play year-round volleyball, soccer, softball as well as cheer/dance/poms. Many kids have more than one of those! As a result that means sometimes they miss hoops and sometimes they miss some other things. We encourage kids to do many different things, especially at younger ages, and our coaches do their best to work with families where possible.

Our goal for the year is to have individual teams at each level from 5th-8th grade.
